Our story
The journey that started it all
Actiph Water was born from a world record breaking expedition and a moment of discovery in the middle of the Indian Ocean. Founded by 15-time Guinness World Record holder and ultra-endurance athlete Jamie Douglas-Hamilton, the idea emerged during a 5,000 mile row from Australia to Africa that pushed the limits of human endurance.

As the crew battled extreme conditions, they found that drinking large volumes of purified water was flushing essential minerals from their bodies leading to severe fatigue and even hallucinations. The breakthrough came when one rower mixed a small amount of seawater into his bottle, instantly restoring balance. The crew adopted the method, recovered rapidly, and went on to beat the world record by two weeks.
For Jamie, this moment crystallised a simple truth: exceptional performance starts with exceptional hydration.

Actiph Water is alkaline ionised water. It is made by taking fresh Shropshire spring water, adding a unique blend of electrolytes, then ionising to remove acidic ions, leaving a high pH water that is smooth, refreshing and provides an alkaline alternative to our increasingly acidic diets.
Actiph contains potassium bicarbonate, sodium bicarbonate and magnesium sulphate.
In simple terms, Actiph tastes like regular water. However, our customers tell us it tastes smoother, softer and cleaner than regular water.
The pH scale is a measure of how acidic/basic (alkaline) water is. The range spans 0 - 14, where 7 is neutral. pHs of less than 7 indicate acidity, where a pHs of greater than 7 indicate alkalinity.
At the acidic end of the spectrum you would find fizzy, sugary soft drinks, fast food and alcohol.
With its pH of 9+, Actiph provides a refreshing alkaline alternative to our increasingly acidic diets.
Our plastic bottles are made with 30% recycled plastic.

In 2014, Jamie Douglas-Hamilton and his crew rowed 5,000 miles across the brutal Indian Ocean, battling storms, exhaustion, and blackouts.
Their desalinated water was flushing out vital electrolytes—until one crew member mixed in sea water. The impact was instant. Strength returned. Clarity sharpened. With this breakthrough, they shattered the world record by two weeks.
THE RESEARCH
Inspired by his experiences on the ocean, Jamie conducted extensive global research to find the most effective hydration solution in the world.
It was in Japan that he first discovered ionised water - a well known water product that was widely consumed in the country for its myriad benefits and approved by the Ministry of Health in the 1960s.
Jamie endeavoured to bring this innovative product to the European market and the rest, as they say, is history.
